DONNISON Branding Identity

DONNISON townhouses located in the leafy green, historical, lake side suburb of Yarralumla. Designed with detail in mind, these hand-crafted townhouses combine a luxurious and elegant lifestyle within the nature filled streets of Yarralumla. With just a five-minute drive to any thriving shopping center, café or restaurant or a simple stroll to the shores of Lake Burley Griffin, the DONNSION is the best of city and simplicity.

This design project was part of a second-year unit called Visual Branding and Identity Systems, which I completed during my studies at the University of Canberra. The project brief was to produce a branding identity and style guide for a specific industry sector successfully communicating to a specified target market. The final project needed to include brand identity, brand positioning, custom logo, styles guide and marketing items. For the project I decided to create my own housing property development located in Yarralumla.

Visual Branding Style Guidelines Brand Positioning Print

The DONNISON is named after Henry Donnison, a free settler who arrived in Sydney with his wife and family in 1828. He was granted the first allotment on the western side of the Stirling Ridge. In 1834 this land was established and officially named Yarralumla, becoming as official Canberra suburb in 1928.

DONNISON meets the design brief by placing emphasis on the audience and future clients. The DONNISON is designed for the client, from using colour palettes that reflect the leafy green environment of where they want to live to the name of the townhouses being named after the first person who moved to this location and lived out their dreams. This priority of the client is evident through the designs, incorporating photos of the future townhouses and phrasing that speaks to the shared values between brand position and future clients.

This project introduced me to an area of design that I would like to build a lifelong career in. It allowed me to discover the various elements encompassed within branding design. Before this project I had not had the opportunity to design a logo or develop an identity for a brand, and throughout this project I had the opportunity to learn and receive feedback on both elements and more.
